Dental Fillings

Fillings are one of the most commonly performed dental procedures.
Most people get cavities and fillings over the course of their life!

If the dentist detects a cavity, you may need a filling. A cavity, also known as dental caries, is a decayed area in the tooth caused by bacteria. Getting a filling is a restorative dental procedure that helps restore a tooth that’s been damaged by a cavity.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Your comfort always comes first at Cloudnine Dental. To do a filling, an anesthetic is first applied locally to the area, then the tooth decay is removed. This is followed by the placement of a dental filling.

At Cloudnine, we offer the option of white (composite) or silver (amalgam) fillings. Silver amalgams are metal fillings composed of silver, tin, copper, zinc, mercury, palladium, platinum, and indium. White fillings are made of composites and resin-modified glass ionomers. We’ll explain to you the advantages and disadvantages of each filling material, as well as what option we recommend before we begin your treatment.
